Mark your calendars! The Bulldog Jog is set to take place on Friday, September 20, 2019, 9:30-11:00am, at Birch Elementary. The goal is to promote fitness & fun, get 100% participation, and at the same time raise much needed funds for our school. Donation collection begins September 9th! On Friday, September 20th, we encourage you to come cheer on the Birch Bulldogs as they run, walk, or jog 1 mile around the school grounds (100 yards for preschool and kindergarten.) This course is a long way to run, jog or walk, so please join us at 9:30 in the circle drive to help cheer on the students!

Please make sure you sign-up for Kindergarten Kickoff as well- these are our first four days of school. An email was sent home the first week of August confirming your session and providing you with more details!
Last Day of School Picnic
Join us for our annual Family Picnic on the last day of school! Families are invited to join their children for an all-school picnic outside from 11:30-12:30 on Thursday, May 23rd. Bring your lunch and join us outside for our final goodbye before the summer! After the picnic families are welcome to check their children out for the year.

HALLOWEEN: Halloween Parties and Parade are from 8-9:30AM on Tuesday, October 31st. Please send your child to school wearing their costume. Students need to wear their clothes underneath their costumes or have clothes to change into. No weapons, blood or gore. Masks may be worn backwards for the parade. We must be able to recognize our students! If you have any questions – please contact your student’s teacher.

Last April, a communication was sent to parents regarding the implementation of an “ABC schedule” across all BVSD elementary schools. This schedule will provide each student equal amounts of time in art, music, and physical education.
With the new ABC schedule students will attend Art, Music, and PE twice over the course of six school days. As a result of the rotating ABC schedule your child will not have a set day for specials like they have in the past. (For example, in the past your child may have had PE every Tuesday and Thursday. With the new schedule they will have PE every third day-the day of the week will vary).
Your child's teacher will share with you what special you have on "A Day", "B Day", and "C Day" of your rotation. These links may also help you to get a better visual of what the ABC schedule for specials will look like.

Class Placement! We realize you are excited about finding out who your student’s teacher will be this year. On Friday, August 11th, you will receive an email with instructions on how you access this information through the Infinite Campus portal on the BVSD website.
Annual Data Update (ADU) Have you completed your family’s Annual Data Update (ADU)? The online ADU system has replaced the paper registration process throughout the district. The ADU allows you to review the data we currently have for your student(s) and household. You are able to request changes and updates if needed. This process also allows you to electronically complete and submit the Parent/Student Sign-Off Sheet from the Student Rights and Responsibilities Guide.
Log into your Infinite Campus Portal with the account you previously created.
Select the link on the left-hand column titled “Annual Data Update ADU.”
A new window will open and you will be directed through the process. Some requested changes to information may require documentation. Please refer to the help boxes as you proceed. Make sure to complete all fields marked with a red asterisk (i.e. required information
If you have NOT yet set up your Parent Portal in Infinite Campus, you should have received an email recently with a Campus Portal Activation Key and instructions. The subject line of the email would have been “Message from BVSD - your access to Infinite Campus Parent Portal” and the sender email address was firstname.lastname@example.org. Please refer to that email to set up your Parent Portal, then return to these directions on how to complete your family’s Annual Data Update.

Log into your portal account.

Meet the Teacher: Please come and meet your student’s teacher on Tuesday, August 15th at 3pm in your student’s classroom. This informal event is a great time to introduce yourself to your student’s teacher, and allow your student to see their new classroom. This is not a formal presentation, so feel free to visit multiple classrooms if you have more than one student at Birch!
Please join us for our annual Ice-Cream Social immediately following Meet the Teacher on Tuesday, August 15th from 3:45-5:00pm.
The first day of school for students in grades 1-5 is Wednesday, August 16th, 2017. Kindergarten students will be attending half days for August 16-21st.

School starts daily at 7:50AM. Your punctual attendance is CRITICAL to your student's success. As a reminder, punctual, regular school attendance is state law! School ends at 2:35pm.
Do you need a backpack? We have many, many brand new backpacks donated generously by the Impact on Education charity. Please, please, if buying a backpack is a hardship, come to our registration event next Tuesday, or stop by the office and get one!
Back to School Night is scheduled for Tuesday, August 22nd from 6:00 - 7:30 pm. If you only attend one Birch event, make this the one. It’s critical that you get to know your student’s teacher and begin to form a partnership working toward student success.
Student Drop off is in the circle driveway only. There is no parking in the staff lot, and no parking in the circle driveway. If you need to park your car, please use the streets.

Volunteers: We rely heavily on volunteers! We are utilizing HelpatSchool.org as our platform to volunteer at Birch AND to sign up for our new student directory. If you would like to volunteer, please check the opportunities on the site. If you plan to volunteer in the building, or attend any field trips, you will be required to complete a background investigation per BVSD rules.
